Wait, what?

Nonesense. This is nonsense. Writing about roles. What do I know about roles? I know that roles create a context for having to make a lot of decisions about what is important. Today my role is a dad, so do I have time to wash the dog? Today I’m a bacon-winner, so do I have time to paint the trim in my house? The concept of roles is one of boundaries, and of the struggle between self-identifying as one thing and the reality that your situation thrusts other identities upon you. I think that a lot of people my age (mid-late twenties) struggle continually with this concept of roles. The classic “who am I?” question is an easy example, though a more common sentiment is “wait, who decided that this is who I am, and when can I change it?”

More to come on this.
