Paddock

My friend Nathan and I have been collaborating on a new music project for a couple of months now, and finally have a couple of tracks online. I hesitate to call it a “band”, since we have yet to actually play music together in the same room, but that changes tomorrow. For now though it’s just a project.

The name we’re currently using to refer to this pursuit is Paddock, which is meant to conjure a certain pastoral feeling. I like to think of this music as outside music, maybe it lives between dusk and dawn when expansiveness of the sky can be overwhelming and you need to find that safe place in the midst of of all that space. That’s where the name comes in, at least in my mind.

(Maybe I’m over thinking it though.)

We’re working on recording an album that we’re going to put out on the tape label we’re starting, so stay tuned for that. More on tape labels and my thoughts on ambient music later.

(Edit: You can listen to some tracks online here. More to come in the future.)
